About Lake Harding
Enjoy waterfront living year round on Lake Harding in Harris County of Hamilton, Georgia. Lake Harding, also known as Bartletts Ferry reservoir, is located just 20 minutes north of Columbus, Georgia, 1.5 hours south of Atlanta and 45 minutes from Callaway Gardens.
Situated on a 13-mile stretch of the Chattahoochee River, Lake Harding encompasses 5,850 acres of water that separates the borders of Alabama and Georgia. Water sports such as boating, fishing, swimming, and sailing are enjoyed on the 156 miles of shoreline that Lake Harding has to offer.
Lake Harding was constructed in 1926 by the Georgia Power Company and is impounded by the Bartletts Ferry Dam on the Chattahoochee River to provide hydroelectric power generation and recreation to the public.
Lake Harding stays full pond year round except every other year when the water level is dropped approximately 8 feet for homeowners to repair or build boathouses and sea walls. Many homes are situated on the lake and are enjoyed as full time residents and for weekend getaways.
Lake Harding is owned and operated by Georgia Power Land Department with a professional and knowledgeable management team.
